Blue Canary in the Outlet by the Light Switch

Just about a week ago I was listening to this song with the kids. A couple of weeks before that, I quoted it on my friend's Facebook wall. I had no idea this nightlight existed until today!

Every time we got a nightlight for our son he just managed to break it. I do love this one. It invokes memories of high school band trips and sleepovers with some of my best friends. Coming in at thirteen dollars, this is pure nostalgic fun.

Camping With the Kids

Another one of the joys of Summer (or Winter for my friends and me) is camping. Our son is almost 5, and we have yet to sleep under the stars.

I think this would be a great summer for our first camping trip. This may not be the typical geeky thing that I want for my birthday, but "outdoors geeks" are a thing too, right? This seems to be a highly rated tent, 5 star at basspro.com and 4 star at amazon.com and it comes in at around $120 at both sites as well.

Tomorrow is the first day of Summer. Summer means grilling season! I have heard great things about the Big Green Egg or Kamado Kooker style of grills. Maybe I should upgrade from the bargain store model that I have.
http://www.amazon.com

This grill is a little pricey to me at $320 - $400, but what do I know? I have never eaten anything grilled in one of these cookers that I am aware of, but they have an amazing reputation! Go on over to  http://www.biggreenegg.com/ and see for yourself. This is the grill on my wishlist for sure!

Less Clunky Camera for Vlogging

The camera I currently use for my vlog and weight loss series is great to sit on a tripod or to take video around the house. It is not ideal for taking on the go with me.

Some of the most entertaining footage comes spontaneously when the family is out and about. I miss a lot of these moments because my camera is large and hard to take on the go.It is also not ideal for vlogging because I have to hold my arm at a strange angle to get any shot but up my nose :) For around $150 this camera would solve that problem by fitting right in my pocket.

Cable Management 101

I am in the market for some serious cable management. Here are a few awesome things that I think could be perfect to make my battlestation a bit less of an eyesore.

http://www.sharperimage.com
This powerstrip is pure genius at around $30.You know how most powerstrips have one, or maybe two outlets with a little space between them? While this one has a slightly bigger footprint, it has six viable outlets for the big-boxlike-plugs that are so common on my electronics. This is pure win!

http://www.thinkgeek.com
All cable management projects need a few wire ties. This little guy is a little expensive to use in place of all of your wire ties at $6, but come on... it is a monkey! For the one or two spots where someone might actually see your wire ties, why not express my love of monkeys? When I tackle this project, it will surely involve at least one of these little guys.

This is cool! Starting at about $21, you hang trough on the back of your desk so that your cables do not lie all over the floor. My wife does not even care about the computer, but even she will get on board with no cables on the floor!

Throw these three products together and my battlestation will be significantly more pleasing to the eye. And it will also appease the geeky, must-have-structure-and-predictability side of my personality as well.

Skagen Men's Watch

I have never owned a watch in my adult life. Maybe it is time.

http://www.amazon.com
I have been thinking for a while that I should really dress up my wardrobe. I think adding a watch to a well-tailored suit might be just the thing to turn me into a bonafide grown-up.

I Have Some Old Drives Laying Around

All those old computers that I have upgraded have a ton of unusable parts. The hard drives might still be useful if I had this.
http://www.thinkgeek.com/interests/giftsunder100/a7ea/

Seriously, I have  three drives I could resurrect right now. I have used 90% of the terabyte drive in my every day machine. I could move some old pictures, movies and documents onto one of those old drives in a few minutes, or overnight.
